I’ll be honest – I haven’t been in the mood to write lately. Processing everything that’s going on in the world is hard enough as is, and going through this lockdown alone has made the changes particularly intense. Writing about clothing just hasn’t felt important with everything else that’s happening. But as the initial shock […]
An Ode to Outerwear: a Capsule Collection
If you ask a menswear guy what the coolest part of his wardrobe is, the answer will usually be one of two things – shoes or outerwear. And it’s not surprising, really; these are the two places where you can really define your style with strong pieces, and where investing in something nice will offer great returns. […]
18 East Heads West
If you’ve been paying much attention to the #menswear world in the past month, you’re probably aware that the much anticipated brand 18 East recently launched. This menswear line is the brainchild of Antonio Ciongoli, who left Eidos last year after re-launching the brand several years ago. Like many others, I was a big fan of his work at Eidos and have been excited to learn more about his new project. And fortunately for us Californians, we’ll have an opportunity to see everything in person next week.
What I Wore: Cold Snap
It was weirdly cold in San Francisco last week – not nearly as cold as most of the northern hemisphere right now, but colder than usual. The temperatures have been in the 40s (even dipping into the 30s at night!), which has allowed me to wear some pieces of mine that don’t get the attention they deserve. […]
Adventures in Amsterdam
Last week I left San Francisco and embarked on a bit of an adventure. Due to a flexible work arrangement and a general fatigue of SF, I decided to head out of town for a while to give myself a change of scenery. […]
What I Wore: London
Strictly speaking, it was colder in Edinburgh than in London during my trip, but somehow it felt much colder here because the air was so damp. All the more reason to layer up and give these often ignored warm clothes some use! Overcoat – Eidos | Suit – Beckett & Robb | Shirt – Proper Cloth | […]
What I Wore: Edinburgh
I had a great time in Edinburgh last week – it’s a beautiful city. Plus, the weather was cool and dry enough to allow me to wear this overcoat, which is a big plus. I’ll be posting more WIWT shots as well as some longer content on my trip over the next few days, so […]
An Expedition to England
I recently arrived in the UK and will be here for the next week – first up in Edinburgh and surrounding areas for a couple days, and then down to London. If you have any tips for me while I’m here, let me know – it’s my first time here and my schedule is flexible! It should be a cool, damp trip, so here’s what I packed:
Sew Many Buttons
My recent upgrade to a new and improved blogging platform has been great in many ways, but one of them was rather unexpected. In flipping all my articles over to a new site, I was forced to revisit all of my old content – this trip down memory lane was quite fun, and reminded me of how […]
Pre-Winter Wonderland
It’s not often that I get to spend time in sub-zero climates, but a serious cold snap during my visit to Central Oregon allowed me to bust out some of my favorite winter weather gear. The star is this overcoat from Eidos – I bought it last February, the day before I left for a work trip to Chicago. I’m pretty sure it saved my life on that trip; I have no idea how I would have made it through that week without it […]
