I think we all expected this sale season to be a meaty one, and so far that’s proving true. Retailers are sitting on a lot of unsold inventory from the shutdown, and so there’s a lot of volume that needs to get liquidated. Here are a couple of large retailers that have some deep discounts on brands I love:
Mr: Porter: Seasonal sale, prices as marked. The breadth of this sale is pretty huge, so I would start with whatever brands you’re currently interested in. Prices tend to drop more over the coming weeks, but inventory also moves fast. If you really love something, I would pounce now because it will likely be gone before the next round of discounts. Here are a couple highlights for me:
- Valstar: strong discounts for some wonderful outwear (I have the brown suede Valstarino and love it- more soon). Sizes tend to go fast with these guys.
- Drake’s: a staple of every Mr. Porter sale.
- Golden Bear: Excellent outerwear made just a mile from my apartment.
- Private White VC: Another amazing outerwear brand, this time from Manchester. More info here.
- RRL: Forget Purple Label, this is the coolest Ralph Lauren sub-brand.
Norstrom: Summer clearance, prices as marked. This is another massive sale, so take some time and poke around for your favorite brands. A few of my favorites:
- RRL: another batch, if Mr. Porter doesn’t have what you’re looking for. That was the case for me – I finally caved and got one of their incredible handknit cardigans (pictured above).
- Drake’s: Back again, with a strong selection and some excellent prices.
- Allen Edmonds: Norstrom has always been a dependable place for the occasional discount on AEs.
- LBM 1911: Big discounts on one of #menswear’s favorite Italian tailored clothing brands.
- Ring Jacket: Another menswear darling, this time from Japan.
This is just the tip of the iceberg – there’s a lot to find in these two sales, depending on what you’re looking for. Happy hunting!
