What I Wore: Gringo Gulch

Although I’m not exactly built for tropical weather, I must admit that it’s pretty convenient that I can fly to Mexico in three hours from San Francisco – that’s half the time it takes me to get to New York City (where I happen to be headed next week). I was able to take a long weekend in Puerto Vallarta and spent my time eating tacos, drinking mezcal, and reapplying SPF 50 sunscreen.

With 100-degree weather and 90% humidity, sweating is inevitable. Tight-fitting clothing like T-shirts feel clingly and uncomfortable – I opted for less slim clothing, and would have gone even looser if I could do it again. The super light camp-collar shirt was my go-to on this trip, and I put a good amount of mileage on my new sneakers from Novesta (more info coming next week). These cotton-linen pleated trousers from Suitsupply have been a go-to for years, and every person I know that works at the store has a pair. They are sold out now but tend to make a return every Spring. I sized up to a 32 and brought in the waist in order to keep them from hugging my calves, and am very glad I did.
