Well, it’s finally happening. I think.
Readers of this blog will know that I’m a big fan of Suitsupply, a company that I believe makes the best tailored clothing around the $500 price point. Those same readers (and other Bay Area fans of the brand) will also know that the company has been trying to open a store here and failing for the past 3 years or so. The SF store has been shown on the Suitsupply site for years, teasing us with an opening date that slowly inches back every time we got close to it. Heck, I even wrote about the store two years ago when I got an insider tip about the opening date. That clearly didn’t happen as planned.
With that said, I’ve been told by Suitsupply’s PR manager that Suitsupply is officially opening their SF store on July 7th, for real this time (I read the email a dozen times, just to be sure I was understanding it correctly). Their location at 175 Maiden Lane is right in the middle of San Francisco’s Union Square shopping district, and will rub shoulders with many luxury brands located on the same block. This is all very exciting news, especially given the fact that Bay Area SuSu fans have to pay tax on our online purchases anyway, since the company has opened two stores in Los Angeles.
So that’s the scoop – it looks like the Bay will finally be getting its SuSu store, if they stay true to their word. But, as the old adage goes, “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice…you can’t get fooled again“.
