It’s been an interesting couple of years for the suit. It seems that every few months an op-ed is written about how this really, truly is the end of the road for tailored clothing. But at the same time, suit stores are busier than ever and new companies are still showing up on the scene. Maybe it’s pent up demand (and all those delayed weddings), excitement for a “new normal,” “revenge shopping,” or something else entirely. Whatever the reason is, though, I don’t think that the suit is on its deathbed yet. […]
Suitsupply – the tailored clothing brand that I’ve talked about at length before – isn’t known for having sale prices on their site, but they do run online outlet sales from time to time. They often show up somewhat unpredictably and stock moves fast, but for those that are ready there are many good deals to be had.
Well, they kept to their word.
After years of delays, the San Francisco Suitsupply store is up and running, and it feels great. Now that the hangover from the opening party has faded and we’re past the phase of speculation, I thought I’d provide an update on the store and what it offers. […]
Well, it’s finally happening. I think. Readers of this blog will know that I’m a big fan of Suitsupply, a company that I believe makes the best tailored clothing around the $500 price point. Those same readers (and other Bay Area fans of the brand) will also know that the company has been trying to open a store here and failing for the past 3 years or so. […]
I’ve been looking to add a light brown summer sportcoat to my wardrobe for a while now. Inspired by pictures from the Sartorialist, Articles of Style, Styleforum’s NOBD, and more, I felt that this addition would be a way to experiment with some seasonal tailored clothing that would still be versatile and play well with […]
At this point, most of you are probably familiar with Suitsupply, the Dutch menswear darling that has been crushing the $400-$700 suit market (you can see my reviews here and here). In the last few years, the company has made serious progress in their plans for world domination; however, their presence in California has been surprisingly nonexistent. A San Francisco store […]
This might be my most off-season review yet, but I’m going for it anyway. Why? Because although there is certainly a black tie “season,” the beauty of the Black Tie Event is that it can strike at any time. The key is preparedness, because you’ll never have time to create a black tie rig from […]
Much like Aliotsy, I have been combing the internet for a patch-pocketed, lightly patterned brown blazer made of a weighty and comfortable material; this may or may not have been heavily influenced by Derek’s wonderful post on the topic. I felt that a casual brown blazer would help me expand my small collection of jackets while […]
This is the space where I sell items from my own collection. All prices include shipping and can be purchased via PayPal or Venmo (prices do not include the 3% fee if you purchase as goods and services – you can either include that amount or purchase as a personal payment, which has no fee). […]
I had a great time relaxing in Paris earlier this month – I spent the week walking the city, eating and drinking with friends, and exploring the many opportunities that the weak Euro offered. I didn’t pack that much so my outfits were pretty simple, and this one was probably the one I reached for the most – denim, oxford shirt, and a flannel sportcoat. […]
