While this is indeed a menswear blog and you are likely a menswear enthusiast, it’s hard to ignore the fact that clothing matters a bit less this year. There are plenty of great menswear deals abound that have been extensively covered, so I thought I would do something a little different. These are the products and sales I’m excited about right now – they don’t directly relate to menswear, but they’re things that I find myself using a lot this year. Like most of us, I’ve been stuck inside so my thoughts tend to focus less on what I’m wearing when I go out and more on what I have around me when I’m at home. As usual, I’m focused on quality, practicality, and value.
Note that all of these sales end tonight, so to reiterate what every email in your ‘promotions’ folder says – act fast!
Pendleton: 25% off everything (including blankets) with code CYBER
This is a big deal because their blankets are nearly always excluded from promotions – to have them discounted this much is a very rare! As an Oregonian and a lover of well-made, handsome products, I heartily endorse Pendleton blankets. I have the Wyeth blanket (which I paid full price for), but just about any one of these would look great on a bed or a couch, and is the type of thing that will be used for decades.
Laura Davidson: 15% off everything with code BF2020
If you’re anything like me, your personal space now doubles as your office. I was hesitant to start investing in good office items for my small apartment, but now that we’re nine months into this it is clear that this is no longer up for debate. Just a bit of research into the office chair world will show you that the choices out there are either low quality, dearly expensive, impressively ugly, or some combination therein. I got a chair from Laura Davidson a few months ago and love it – they’re reproductions of the famous (and infamously expensive) Herman Miller executive chairs. I went with the pro version of the soft pad ‘Soho’ chair due to the upgrades in materials and design (there’s also a ribbed version), though the regular ones look great as well.
The Ordinary: 23% off everything, no code needed
My skin has always been a bit challenging to take care of, and I have tried many products and brands over the years. Recently, all my skincare has been coming from one place – the Ordinary. Their products are already very well-priced without promotion, and the additional discount makes them a no-brainer. Beyond the price, another great thing about the Ordinary is that you know exactly what you’re getting. Other brands may make vague mentions of ingredients like Argan oil, retinol, hyaluronic acid and the like, but the Ordinary clearly labels exactly what is in each product, and what amount. For the price, there is no competition. Recommendations will vary based on your own needs, but I will say that I have yet to be disappointed by one of their products.
Cultiver: 20% off everything with code ENJOY 2020
Direct-to-Consumer bedding companies are everywhere now, and the products are often similar from brand to brand. And while I still get use out of my sets of Brooklinen sheets from the before this was such a phenomenon, I’ve found that there are better options out there. One such option is Cultiver, whom I particularly love for their excellent linen sheets. They’re soft, hearty, and were also the top pick from the Wirecutter. I quite like the look and find them to be very comfortable for the Northern California climate.
P.F. Candle Co – varying discounts on candles and free shipping
I should preface this by saying that one of my many quarantine hobbies has been to make my own scented candles. This has been a great project and I now have enough wax-filled jars to start my own wholesale business, but if you want to skip all the middle steps I highly recommend PF candle as a workhorse option. With candles starting at $15, they’re well-priced for what they are. My favorite scents are pretty similar to their top sellers – teakwood and tobacco, amber and moss, pinon, and golden coast. If you’re looking to make your own, let me know in the comments and perhaps I’ll put something together.
And with that, another Cyber Week has come and gone! What were your favorite sales from the past week?
