$100 off $300, $200 off $500 with code SP18BC – In a rather convenient turn of events given my recent post on where to buy penny loafers, Brooks Brothers is offering what is likely one of their best sales of the year. $200 off of $500 is a very strong 40% off, and although $300+ spent is a good chunk of change, the good news is that lots of great products will put you right at that threshold.
Longtime readers will know that my favorite thing to buy at Brooks Bros. during big sales is footwear – lots of great manufacturers (Crockett & Jones, Alden, Allen Edmonds, Edward Green, and more) sell shoes here, even if not under their own label – and they’re a rare find on sale. Factor in that this is a whopping $200 most styles, and you’re looking at some serious discounts.
Top footwear picks:
- Peal & Co. Boots: This collection is made by a few UK-based manufacturers (mostly Crockett and Jones, a personal favorite. Their grain boots and suede boots look exceptional (my favorite is the grain), and there’s always their cordovan version for those that want to splurge. The whole collection is solid though, so take a look.
- Loafers! Lots of great options here, many right around that $500 price to get the ultimate discount. The American ones are from Alden (some tassels in suede, calfskin, and shell, pennies in shell), UK ones from C&J (1, 2, 3, 4).
- The perfect chukka boot. These unlined brown suede chukkas by Alden are perfect. They’ve been popular for a while now, but most tend to go with snuff suede – in my opinion, the dark brown is much better looking and much easier to pair with pants. At around $350, this is as good a price as you will ever see for this pair.
- Cordovan wingtips. This pair made by Crockett & Jones is very similar to the wonderful Ralph Lauren Marlow, which has become absurdly expensive.
Of course, there are thousands of things that aren’t footwear that are also on sale. A good bet could be a suits or sportcoats, many of which are right around $500 (thus maximizing the discount). You could also buy four of their classic oxford cloth button down shirts, which run $90 after the discount (from $140). All in all, it’s a strong sale for buying things around $500 – if you’ve had your eye on something, now’s the time to buy.
