As many of you know, last year I took a role at an e-commerce company called Massdrop as the buyer for their Men’s Style vertical. For the most part, I try to keep that work and this blog separate, but given that they both have to do with learning about great clothing and accessories and bringing them to a larger audience, there’s bound to be some crossover. For that reason, I wanted to let you all know about two things that may be relevant to your interests:
1. Panta x Styleforum collab. I’ve partnered with Styleforum and the popular menswear clothier Panta to do a group buy for their famous madder ties. You can see the thread here. This is the first of what will hopefully be many collaborations between Styleforum and Massdrop, and I’m very excited about this project. Through this collaboration you’ll be able to help us decide what swatches to offer and will able to purchase a tie at a solid discount off the MSRP. If you’re interested in getting a stunning madder tie for the fall at a great price, pop in and check out that thread.
2. Massdrop is growing – fast. I’m very excited to say that Massdrop just raised $40 million from some top venture capital firms that believe in our vision of helping product enthusiasts buy their favorite products together. This means two things:
- First, you can expect lots of wonderful and exciting changes in the coming months, so if you’re not yet signed up you should consider doing so. Heck, at this very moment we have some great stuff up on the site – the ideal pair of summer sneakers, some popular made in USA tees, knit ties made by the factory that produces them for Drake’s, Saphir shoe care products, and more – all selling at deep discounts. Go check it out!
- Second, we’re hiring rather aggressively right now. If you’re passionate about the products you buy and want to join our team, check out our available positions. If you don’t see something you’re interested in right now, keep an eye out because the positions will be changing regularly. I should note that the men’s style buying team is not actively hiring right now, but that will probably change soon. If you see a position you’re interested in, I encourage you to apply and also email me so that I can help your application find the right person.
So , there you have it – that’s what I’ve been up to for the past couple of months. Let me know if you have any questions!
