A quick heads up to the Bay Area readers – Gilt City is having their warehouse sale in downtown SF this Thursday through Saturday, 12/3 – 12/5. You can see the details here. For the Thursday and Friday openings there is an admission charge in exchange for early access, but there are also amenities like drinks and food.
I’m going to head over on Thursday after work; I have no idea what to expect, but am hopeful that there will be some diamonds in the rough. Judging by the perks offered (like complimentary “vodkaritas” and hair braiding), the target demographic is clearly women. That said, if there’s that much less competetion for some grail menswear finds, I’m all for it. Who knows what will be there, but if you’re in the area it could be worth checking out. I’ll update this post with a quick description after my trip over on Thursday.
UPDATE: Most of the stuff at the sale is not going to be of interest to menswear nerds. That said, there are definitely a few great pieces interspersed throughout. I saw some Boglioli and LBM jackets for under $150, some nice Gant outerwear, and some Luciano Barbera (the best of which was an amazing herringbone ulster coat). These pieces are the minority though. Let me know if you pick up anything from the sale!
