Sailing in the Bay

Having friends with access to a sailboat is a great asset when living in the Bay Area. Sailing around the bridge piers and islands and taking in the incredible views is one of the best ways to spend a sunny Saturday.

Of course, dressing for nautical adventures has its own set of challenges. The temperatures can range from blisteringly hot to windy and cold quite quickly, and a slippery deck requires shoes that will keep you secure during all the furious tacking. And, of course, polarized sunglasses are a must. I channeled my inner Kennedy and layered up for the wind with a simple OCBD/crewneck combination, combined with an off-white pair of chinos. And, like JFK, I used sneakers to keep myself fastened to the deck, since I never really liked boat shoes. Lastly, I brought my trusty Warby Parker Sinclair shades to cut down on the glare while providing a classic eyewear shape.
