This is true, for the most part. Although I do (k)not question the fact that the reef knot is far superior to the granny knot, I have found it incredibly hard to break a bad habit that began two decades ago. Fortunately, shoe-tying was not one of the skills required to become an Eagle Scout - but I did learn to tie a mean taut line hitch.
